Meet Oceana

Oceana’s journey into sound healing began while living in China during the early days of the pandemic. In the midst of lockdowns and uncertainty, she found solace in the powerful chants of a monk who lived in her apartment block. His voice would echo down corridors, through communal gardens, and into nearby parks he visited — creating moments of stillness and comfort in a time of chaos. At times he used bells, rattles and Tibetan singing bowls to carry his prayers and energy through the space.

Over the 2.5 years she lived there, the monk became a close friend and guide, offering informal training and deepening her understanding of sound as a healing tool. This experience left a lasting impression and sparked Oceana’s exploration of instruments such as tuning forks, singing bowls, and bells — initially used in her personal meditation practice, long before she knew it was called sound therapy.

Curious and inspired, she began experimenting with binaural beats, frequencies, and music production — gaining insight into the power of sound to regulate the nervous system, shift energy, and restore balance. Her personal healing journey eventually led her to train professionally as a sound practitioner.

Today, Oceana weaves together ancient wisdom and modern techniques — using crystal bowls, gongs, tuning forks, breathwork, and rhythm to support emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing through her sound healing practice.

My Specialism: Frequency Interference & Brainwave Entrainment

One of the areas I specialise in within sound healing is the interference of frequencies to create a binaural beats effect — a powerful method for supporting deep meditation, creative flow, and self-healing.

In my sound baths, this is achieved by placing two quartz crystal singing bowls close together, each tuned to slightly different frequencies. As the bowls resonate simultaneously, the overlapping tones naturally create an audible interference pattern, allowing the brain to perceive the difference between the two. For example, if one bowl plays at 396 Hz and the other at 400 Hz, the brain picks up on the 4 Hz difference.

This perceived 4 Hz tone isn’t physically present — it’s created by the brain itself. And because our brainwaves can entrain to external frequencies, this 4 Hz rhythm can guide the listener into a theta brainwave state, associated with deep meditation, dreamlike visions, emotional release, and enhanced creativity.

This technique is also used in self-healing practices at home using headphones or earphones, where each ear receives a separate frequency. However, while this method still supports brainwave entrainment, the experience is confined to the ears alone.

In contrast, a live sound bath offers full-body resonance. Sound is not just heard — it's felt through the skin, our largest organ, allowing us to receive vibrational healing on a much deeper, somatic level. This makes live sound healing truly special, as the vibrations are absorbed throughout the whole body, creating a multi-dimensional sensory experience that headphones alone cannot replicate.

Different frequencies target specific systems of the body and emotional states. Here are just a few healing tones I may incorporate:

  • 174 Hz – pain relief and stress reduction

  • 285 Hz – cellular and organ regeneration

  • 396 Hz – release from fear and guilt

  • 417 Hz – facilitates personal transformation

  • 528 Hz – DNA repair and inner harmony (also called the “miracle frequency”)

  • 639 Hz – supports heart healing and connection

  • 741 Hz – detoxification and expression

  • 852 Hz – spiritual alignment and intuition

  • 963 Hz – oneness and divine consciousness

In many sessions, I also work with brainwave entrainment using delta, theta, alpha, and beta frequencies to guide you into deep states of rest, insight, and energetic release.

Group Guided Meditations

Here are some guided meditation practices that may be woven into a sound bath or 1:1 therapy session with Your Sound Guide. These gentle techniques—such as grounding, heart-opening, and breath awareness—are designed to support relaxation and help the body become more receptive to sound. By calming the nervous system and anchoring awareness in the present moment, they create a nurturing entry point into stillness. The more the body relaxes, the more it can open to the therapeutic potential of sound. These meditations set the tone for the session, allowing the mind to soften and the sound to work more deeply.

  1. Body Scan Meditation – for deep relaxation and somatic awareness

  2. Loving-Kindness Meditation (Metta) – to cultivate compassion for self and others

  3. Gratitude Meditation – to shift perspective and open the heart

  4. Chakra Balancing Meditation – to align energy centres and promote inner harmony

  5. Grounding Meditation – to reconnect with the body and feel anchored in the present moment

  6. Mindfulness of Breath – a simple, powerful practice to calm the mind

  7. Visualization Meditation – using imagery for healing, manifestation or inner peace

  8. Inner Child Healing Meditation – to reconnect with and soothe your younger self

  9. Manifestation Meditation – to set intentions and align with desired outcomes

  10. Sleep Meditation – to support rest, reduce anxiety, and transition into sleep

  11. Affirmation-Based Meditation – to rewire thought patterns and empower the subconscious

  12. Shadow Work Meditation – for integrating the unconscious and embracing the whole self

  13. Energy Clearing Meditation – to release unwanted energies from the body or aura

  14. Higher Self or Spirit Guide Meditation – to connect with intuitive wisdom

  15. Self-Compassion Meditation – to soften the inner critic and nurture inner kindness

Loose Leaf Tea Ceremony

At Your Sound Guide, we thoughtfully incorporate herbal medicine into some of our sound bath sessions to enhance relaxation and deepen the healing experience. These hand-blended loose leaf teas are chosen for their natural ability to calm the nervous system, ease the mind, and support deep rest. Served warm and with care, they provide a grounding ritual before or after the sound bath, gently preparing the body to receive or integrate vibrational therapy.
